A Responsiveness View of logistics and supply chain management

The emergence of logistics and supply chain management as a fully mature business discipline may depend on the development foundational perspectives embracing focus responsiveness. Hundreds papers in our field conceptualize responsiveness related concepts disconnected ways ignoring this potentially valuable foundation for investigating strategic logistical adjustments. Although these extant studies highlight many important issues to responsiveness, their conceptualizations nomological networks vary considerably. This diffuse seriously hinders efforts create an overarching theoretical perspective dynamic without one. result is masking promising research directions that could help define discipline. Drawing from organizational economics, logistics, literatures, we begin argument responsiveness—realized through management—has strong potential defined perspective. All roads superior performance upon environment, members, stakeholders, consumer. Our proposed Responsiveness View supports exploration how chains compete successfully amidst disruption change, helping young, theoretically distinct, domain.
